About Us
Three years ago, we found ourselves newly planted in Eganville, Ontario -- A pretty town with friendly neighbors and a beautiful river running through the heart. Our interest and enjoyment of freshly roasted coffee had started a while back but we were drinkers only, not roasters. The idea to start roasting coffee, ourselves, came into being when we wanted to help get really good coffee for our local café and gallery (and for ourselves!). It made sense to us, that if we could roast here we would get the freshest and therefore the optimal flavor from the beans. Organic, made sense because we wanted to avoid ingesting the myriad of chemicals and pesticides that coffee is widely sprayed with. Fair Trade, was of prime importance to us because, as we learned more about the countries and people who grow coffee plants, farmers have the right to fair compensation. Just like here. There is a lot to be said on this subject and more that we are learning about, ourselves. We just felt this was the only way we wanted to go. We have gained a great deal more appreciation for how and from where our food comes to the table, having been members of the Eganville Farmer’s Market. Coffee doesn’t grow here but we can purchase the green beans fairly and then roast those precious beans to an artful and delicious result. As our own tastes and interests vary, we like to offer the opportunity for you to enjoy a wide variety of beans from the different coffee growing countries and regions of this planet. We love to try and experiment with new varieties and combinations and hope to share that sense of curiosity and adventure with you!

Coffee beans! They are actually seeds of a cherry type fruit!

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
The coffee we roast comes from small independent farms that are independently inspected for compliance with organic standards and growing practices. We support small organic farmers who grow sustainably and are fairly compensated for their work and product.

I could not survive without the Ottawa Valley Food Coop as I am totally morally allergic to commercial supermarkets. Thank you all the producers for taking care of my family!
